Under the name of “Six Star”, Muscle Tech created a post-workout creatine blend that promises:

- Enhancing muscle performance in athletes.
- Accelerating post-workout recovery.
The supplement in question is called Six Star’s Creatine X3.
As a gym rat myself, this all sounds amazing to me. However, as a skeptic, I’m wondering what makes this post-workout creatine blend so great.
Better yet, is it worth your money?

Serving size: One serving of Six Star Creatine X3 is a massive 33 grams. A giant scoop compared to creatine competitors.
The number of scoops/tub: If you stick to one scoop post-workout, you’ll have a total of 35 workouts with enhanced recovery.

Ingredients in Six Star Creatine X3
Six Star Creatine X3 is not only a creatine blend but a post-workout recovery supplement.
This means it contains calories, in contrast to other creatine supplements I’ve reviewed, such as the (micronized) creatine monohydrate from Bulk Supplements.
Below I’ll go over each ingredient in detail, to see if:
- The ingredient is worth it
- The dosage of the ingredient is right
Carbohydrates | 19 grams (5 grams of sugar)
Per serving of 33 grams Creatine X3 has approximately 80 calories, with 19 grams of carbohydrates, and 5 grams of which are sugars.
Carbohydrates post-workout are good for restoring your glycogen levels, which is indeed good for recovery.
Sodium | 65mg
Taking sodium before a workout can help you work out longer, by increasing blood volume and improving blood flow.
Sodium is also important for proper water and mineral balance in your body and is essential for nerve function and muscle contractions.
65mg is underdosed for the benefits – recommended daily sodium 1,500-2,300mg (more for athletes)
Muscle Building Creatine Blend | 8,000 mg
Your muscles use ATP as a source of energy.
For example, when you’re bench pressing, ATP is used so your muscles can complete the repetitions.
Your body loses ATP and produces ATP simultaneously. ATP production is of course slower than the rate it’s lost, so eventually, you can’t do another repetition.
Creatine allows your muscles to produce more ATP, which means your muscles can do a few more repetitions.
Over time these extra repetitions will result in more muscle mass and better performance.
Recommended daily creatine: 3,000-5,000mg
Both of these creatine sources have a similar effect, so 8 grams of total creatine daily is unnecessary.
You will max out the creatine in your body with 5 grams daily as well.
The most common form of creatine and also the most researched. It’s a creatine molecule, combined with a water molecule.
Creatine HCL, or Hydrochloride, is made of a creatine molecule combined with a hydrochloride molecule.
This form of creatine is more soluble and has a better absorption rate.
The main benefit is for me people that experience an upset stomach, as a side effect of creatine monohydrate.
For long-term use, the effect of creatine HCL will be similar to other forms of creatine.
BCAA-Amino Blend 2,500 mg
The unfortunate thing about a “blend” is that you never know how much of each ingredient is inside such a blend.
In this case, only Taurine (daily) would make a difference if it’s properly dosed.
If you eat a protein-rich diet, that minimal amount of extra BCAAs will likely have no benefits at all.
However, the label suggests the BCAAs are in there to boost nitrogen levels, so it may have some effects in that regard.
Taurine reduces muscular fatigue. This means you can train at a high intensity for longer.
It has benefits for endurance, strength, and general power.
The recommended daily dose of Taurine is 1,000-2,000 mg
L-Leucine/ L-Isoleucine/ L-Valine
There are 9 different essential amino acids (EAAs) in our body, that are needed to build muscle.
These amino acids you MUST get through your diet because your body can’t produce them.
The three EAAs above have a unique chemical structure. For this reason, they’re called BCAAs, or branched-chain amino acids.
While all EAAs are needed to build muscle, BCAAs are more likely to go to the skeletal muscle of our bodies. L-leucine is especially important for protein synthesis.
This is why BCAAs have become so popular and are widely marketed to build muscle and strength. However, BCAAs are found in our food.
EAAs/ BCAAs after training have been found to stimulate greater strength/ muscle improvements, but you don’t necessarily need a supplement.
You could just eat some eggs or drink a protein shake.
For example, 100 grams of chicken has nearly 6 grams (6,000 mg) of BCAAs, and one scoop of whey powder has 5,5 grams (5,500 mg) of BCAAs.
Creatine Synthesis Amino Matrix | 1,000 mg
There are three amino acids your body uses to make its own creatine (called creatine synthesis): Glycine, L-Arginine, and L-Methionine.
It’s an interesting addition to a creatine supplement that’s not found in (most) other creatine supplements.
FD&C Red No. 40 food dye
This is a potentially harmful color additive (derived from petroleum) that is listed under the section “other ingredients”.
It’s used to give food a certain appearance (food dye – red color).
The FDA deems it safe, but the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) disagrees on the matter.
Flavors of Six Star Creatine X3
Six Star Creatine X3 comes in just one flavor:
- Fruit punch
It’s a common flavor found in many (pre-workout) supplements. I like it, but that’s a matter of personal preference.
More flavors would be nice for people that dislike fruit punch.
Price of Six Star Creatine X3
Six Star Creatine X3 is priced at $39,13. This makes the price per scoop $1.12. It’s on the higher end for a creatine supplement.
However, it serves multiple purposes, because it’s essentially a post-workout muscle-recovery enhancer.
The massive 33-gram scoops are packed with:
- A very high dose of creatine.

- BCAA’s and Taurine, which may boost nitrogen levels.

Overall people experience great results in increasing strength, muscle mass, and performance.
The supplement dissolves easily in fluids and most people like the taste.
Is Six Star Creatine X3 Worth it?
In my opinion, Six Star Creatine X3 can be a great supplement if you’re currently trying to bulk up (fast).
The two highly dosed forms of creatine (monohydrate and HCL) will saturate creatine levels in your blood fairly quickly.
The carbohydrates restore glycogen levels after a workout, the BCAAs may help in boosting nitrogen levels, and there is a possible boost in creatine production in the body (creatine synthesis matrix).
I’ve been working out and taking creatine for over 6 years.
I’m not trying to bulk up fast, and the extra calories in the extra 80 calories from the post-workout supplement are not worth it for me.
In this phase of my career as a gym bro, I prefer the (micronized) creatine monohydrate from Bulk Supplements that has no additives at all.
