Pre-workouts make living life more fun (at least for me), no doubt about it. However, not all of them have been created equal.

Some give you a near heart attack, some enable you to see sound, and some are worse than a cup of coffee.

So how do you make a good choice when it comes to pre-workouts? Well, that’s where I come in.

I show you exactly what you’re consuming, what you can expect, and if it’s worth your money.

My. Hyde is a popular and affordable pre-workout that looks promising, but is it?

In this article, I’ll be reviewing the Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout.

Ingredients in Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout

The Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout does not contain any proprietary blend, which means complete transparency in ingredients and quantities.

It’s always best to know what we’re consuming.

Beta-Alanine, Nitrosigine, L-Citrulline, Choline, and L-Theanine are underdosed.

The NALT and GABA dosages are negligible and will most likely not contribute much to benefits.

14 mg of Niacin

Niacin helps to expand our blood vessels, which increases blood flow in our bodies. The extra blood flow can give you a better pump during workouts.

Niacin also plays a role in converting food into energy, which may help with weight loss.

2,500 mg of Creatine Monohydrate

Creatine stimulates the production of ATP, the energy source your muscles use to perform repetitions and sets in the gym.

When you’re bench pressing. For example, when you’re bench pressing, ATP is used so your muscles can complete the repetitions.

Your body loses ATP and produces ATP simultaneously. ATP production is slower than the rate it’s lost, so eventually, you can’t do another repetition.

More ATP means more repetitions and sets, increasing muscle mass and performance over time.

1,500 mg of Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is produced naturally in the body.

It helps to reduce fatigue, which allows for more reps and sets while working out. Over time, this can lead to more muscle growth and strength gains.

It’s also the cause of that itchy or tingling feeling all over your body.

250 mg of Nitrosigine (Arginine Silicate Inositol)

Nitrosigine boosts nitric oxide, which helps to widen the blood vessels. This allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

It has also been shown to improve post-workout recovery, and we don’t build a tolerance for prolonged usage.

250 mg of Citrulline Malate L-Aspartic Acid 1:1

L-Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that our bodies transform into another amino acid called L-arginine.

It increases the release of nitric oxide, which helps to widen the blood vessels. This allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

L-Citrulline also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you to feel more focused, energetic, and sharper during training.

250 mg of Choline Bitartrate

Choline or Choline Bitartrate is essential for the optimal functioning of every cell in the body.

It can boost muscle recovery, improve muscle performance during exercise and improve stamina.

It’s also used as a nootropic to increase focus during training.

26 mg of L-Theanine

Theanine helps to regulate the effects of other stimulating ingredients. You feel focused and energetic but not overly stimulated.

It also helps caffeine work longer, so you don’t get a crash in the midst of working out.

26 mg of NALT (N-Acetyl Tyrosine)

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, or NALT, is a better-absorbed form of regular L-Tyrosine.

It’s a non-essential amino acid that can increase happiness, manage stress, improve memory, and helps the body build proteins.

It also helps produce thyroid hormones, melatonin (skin and hair pigment), and enzymes.

It helps produce neurotransmitters like epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. In simple words, this influences mood and allows nerve cells to communicate.

Both of which are great for working out.

13 mg of GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid)

GABA is a neurotransmitter in our brain that we produce ourselves. It plays a significant role in handling stress, anxiety, and fear.

It may stimulate growth hormone production and help build muscle and fat loss if taken as a pre-workout.

169 mg of Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine anhydrous is extracted from the seed and leaves of coffee plants. “Anhydrous” means that it contains no water.

It’s a highly concentrated caffeine powder, the same as caffeine in coffee. Caffeine provides energy, alertness, focus, etc.

37 mg of Di-Caffeine Malate (70 mg of caffeine)

This patented ingredient is made for increased energy from caffeine without having the typical “crash” during or after a workout.

16 mg of Theacrine (TheaCrine 40%)

Theacrine is extracted from the Chinese Kucha Leaf Tea and works similarly to caffeine, but it lasts longer (greater half-life) and does not result in a crash.

Flavors of Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout

Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout comes in only two flavors. In contrast to other pre-workouts that sometimes have over ten flavors, you don’t need to waste brain power on making a decision here.

The following flavors are available:

  • Blue Razz
  • Lollipop Punch

Despite there being only two flavors, I like both of them.

Everybody’s taste buds are different, but I believe most people look forward to drinking their pre-workout with Mr. Hyde.

Is Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout safe?

Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout is safe when sticking to the recommended dose for most healthy adults.

The pre-workout is high in caffeine, especially if you need more than one scoop, which might not be ideal if you’re sensitive to caffeine or anxiety. It can make anxiety worse.

Don’t take this pre-workout too late in the day, or you won’t sleep, and watch your caffeine intake from other products.

It’s best to consult a medical provider before taking Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout if you’re taking medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are nursing.

Stop taking the supplement two weeks before undergoing surgery.

In some cases (unlikely), you can have mild side effects like an upset stomach, feeling nauseous, diarrhea, headache, etc.

Experiences with Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout

The overall experiences with Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout are good.

Most people feel they’re getting good value for what they pay. They feel more energized, experience focus, and get better pumps.

The majority also love the flavors and look forward to them.

However, it may be too weak for more advanced lifters or people taking pre-workouts often. It’s a small scoop with many underdosed/ lacking ingredients.

The caffeine is a big part of this pre-workout, so if you have a high tolerance (like me), even double scooping might not do much.

It seems to be a good starting pre-workout for beginners, and they feel it works well.

Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout gets an excellent 4.4 out of 5 stars on Amazon (and Amazon’s Choice).

Price of Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout

Price of Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout

Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout is priced at 19,98 dollars for 30 or 36.99 for 60 servings on Amazon. This makes the price per scoop around $0.67 or $0.62.

The price per scoop is around half of most pre-workouts I’ve reviewed. If price is the most influential factor, then this pre-workout is perfect.

This is mainly good if you’re a beginner and only need one scoop.

Suppose you’re more advanced in pre-workouts and need multiple scoops, then investing in a more expensive pre-workout is way better.

For the price of two scoops, you can buy a pre-workout that packs much more punch in one scoop.

Is Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout Worth It?

Based on the ingredients, experiences of others, and my own experience, I can say Mr. Hyde Signature Pre-Workout is a good option if you’re:

  • New to pre-workouts and don’t have a sky-high caffeine tolerance.
  • You’re looking for a cheap pre-workout, and don’t mind that it’s not the most insane pre-workout.
  • You’re looking for an okay pre-workout, which is also very tasty.

I’ve been (ab)using pre-workout for years and have an atmospherically high caffeine tolerance. I like the taste, but this pre-workout doesn’t do much for me.

If you’re experienced, it might not be your best bet.

The caffeine combination is good because it will kick in fast, last during a workout, and most likely not cause a typical “crash.”

I like Nitrosigine and Choline, but the dosages are on the lower end of effective.

Beta-Alanine is okay, but you need 4-6 grams daily for maximum benefits. Beta-Alanine can cause tingling or “itchy” effects; it wears off quickly and is not dangerous.

Creatine Monohydrate works best at 3-5 grams daily, so you’re close with a dose of 2,500 mg.

The other ingredients come in dosages that are, in my opinion, negligible.

In summary: a beginner will likely feel it, especially the caffeine blend and Nitrosigine. You’ll have more energy, focus, and a better pump in the gym.

For these reasons, I recommend it to beginners or people looking for a cheap and tasty pre-workout.

You can find it on Amazon here.

If this is not you, you might be better off spending more on a more potent pre-workout.
