I’ve always liked Rich Piana for his character, transparency, and brutal honesty.

When he passed away on the 25th of August in 2017 it was a sad day.

A fitness icon was lost. But his legacy continues to live on.

One way is through his supplements from the brand 5% nutrition.

Today I’ll be reviewing the Kill-It reloaded legendary pre-workout.

Let’s explore if this pre-workout is good enough to summon the spirit of Rich Piana, and give you the strength to bang out some extra reps.

Ingredients in Kill-It Reloaded Pre-Workout

Niacin | 30mg

Niacin helps to expand our blood vessels, which increases blood flow in our body. The extra blood flow can provide you with a better pump during your workouts.

Niacin also plays a role in converting food into energy, which may help with weight loss.

30mg is dosed correctly

Sodium | 20mg

Taking sodium before a workout can help you work out longer, by increasing blood volume and improving blood flow. Sodium is also important for proper water and mineral balance in your body and is essential for nerve function and muscle contractions.

20mg is underdosed for the benefits – recommended daily sodium 1,500-2,300mg (more for athletes)

Potassium | 70mg

Potassium is essential for your nerve function and muscles to contract properly. Low levels of potassium may result in nasty muscle cramps.

70mg is underdosed for the benefits – recommended daily potassium: 3,500-4,700mg

Choline | 200mg / Choline Bitartrate | 500mg

Choline is essential for the optimal functioning of every cell in the body. It can boost muscle recovery, improve muscle performance during exercise and improve stamina.

It’s also used as a nootropic to increase focus during training.

700mg is dosed correctly

L-Citrulline | 4,000mg

L-Citrulline increases the release of nitric oxide. This helps widen the blood vessels, which allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

It also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you to feel more focused, energetic, and sharper during training.

4,000mg is dosed correctly

GlycerSize | 3,000mg

It’s a stable form of 65% glycerol powder that helps to push more fluids into the muscles. This results in better hydration, more endurance, better performance, and fuller muscles (huge pumps).

Consume a lot of water and stay hydrated, so you get the maximal effect.

3,000mg is a proper high dose.

Beta-Alanine | 2,000mg

Beta-alanine helps with muscle fatigue, which practically means you can do more reps and sets while working out. Over time this will result in more muscle growth.

It’s also the cause of that itchy or tingling feeling all over your body.

2,000mg is underdosed – 4,000-6,000mg daily is needed for its benefits.

L-Taurine | 2,000mg

Taurine reduces muscular fatigue. This means you can train at a high intensity for longer. It has benefits for endurance, strength, and general power.

2,000mg is dosed correctly

Betaine | 1,000mg

Betaine increases the amount of water in muscle cells, which results in a better pump during exercise. Studies ( 2 times 1,25g/day) have also shown increased strength, better endurance, more muscle mass, faster weight loss, and less muscle fatigue.

1,000mg is a little underdosed – recommended daily Betaine: 1,500-2,500mg

Nitrosigine | 750mg

Nitrosigine boosts nitric oxide and is commonly found in non-stim pre-workouts. It helps widen the blood vessels, which allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

It has also been shown to improve post-workout recovery.

750mg is dosed correctly.

L-Theanine | 100mg

Theanine helps to regulate the effects of other stimulating ingredients. You feel focused and energetic, but not overly stimulated. It also helps caffeine work longer, so you don’t get a crash in the midst of working out.

100mg is dosed correctly.

Huperzia Serrata Extract | 100mg

Huperzia-A works as an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor, which increases the levels of Acetylcholine in the body. This increase will improve neurotransmission and both muscular and cognitive performance.

In the short term, it can result in better workouts by increasing focus, concentration, and cognitive abilities.

100mg is dosed correctly.

Creatine Blend

Your muscles use ATP as a source of energy. For example, when you’re bench pressing, ATP is used so your muscles can complete the repetitions. Your body loses ATP and produces ATP simultaneously. ATP production is of course slower than the rate it’s lost, so eventually, you can’t do another repetition.

Creatine allows your muscles to produce more ATP, which means your muscles can do a few more repetitions.

Over time these extra repetitions will result in more muscle mass and better performance.

Recommended daily creatine: 3,000-5,000mg

Creatine Anhydrous | 2,300mg

Creatine anhydrous is just creatine monohydrate with the water completely removed. In practice, it will likely not make a difference in effectiveness.

Creatine Monohydrate | 100mg

The most common form of creatine and also the most researched.

Creatine Pyruvate | 100mg

Creatine Pyruvate is creatine combined with pyruvic acid. Pyruvic acid may aid in weight loss and boost athletic performance.

Caffeine Anhydrous | 267mg

Caffeine anhydrous is extracted from the seed and leaves of coffee plants. “Anhydrous” simply means that it contains no water. It’s a highly concentrated form of caffeine powder and essentially the same as caffeine found in coffee.

Recommended pre-workout dose: 0.9-2.7mg per pound or 2-6mg per kg of body weight

Caffeine Citrate | 50mg

Caffeine citrate is caffeine that works faster than caffeine anhydrous. It’s used in pre-workout because it takes less time to “kick in”.

The downside of citrate is that only 50% of the caffeine is active caffeine. So half of it won’t do anything.

Infirergy Dicaffeine Malate | 50mg

This is a patented ingredient, that’s made for increased energy from caffeine without having the typical “crash” during or after a workout.

Raw Coconut Water Concentrate | 100mg

Coconut water is a natural source of many minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, etc. It’s great for hydration and it may prevent muscle cramps.

Is Kill-It Reloaded Pre-Workout Worth it?

Kill-It reloaded legendary pre-workout has been a staple in my pre-workout arsenal since it was released.

I love the massive 20-gram scoops that contain nearly everything you need for a good workout.

It’s not specifically focused on just stimulants or a massive pump, but combines the best of all worlds.

It’s pretty expensive compared to competing pre-workouts, but in my opinion, you do get a premium pre-workout in return.

It contains a lot of dosed correctly ingredients, that are proven to work.

For everyday use, this might be my favorite all-around pre-workout.

If you don’t mind spending a little extra, and you’re looking for a pre-workout that will make you kill the weights on all fronts then you should give Kill-It reloaded legendary pre-workout a go.
