Wouldn’t the world be lovely if we always woke up with unlimited energy, motivation, and drive to crush our goals? Unfortunately, that’s (at least for me) not the case.

This is why I love (a lot of) energy drinks, pre-workouts, fat burners, etc.

I came across a relatively new energy drink from Alani Nu, which sparked my interest because of a wild variety of unique flavors like “Hawaiian Shaved Ice.”

I mean, how cool is that?

However, what’s inside these energy drinks, and are they better than competitors? That’s what I wanted to find out.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing the Alani Nu Energy Drink.

Grab your favorite popcorn machine, pop some kernels, and find out if Alani Nu Energy Drink is next on your supplement list.

Ingredients in Alani Nu Energy Drink

The Alani Nu Energy Drink contains a complex of B Vitamins, 200 mg of caffeine, and an energy blend where the exact quantities of the ingredients are unknown.

I’ll discuss each in further detail.

Calories and Macronutrients

The energy drink has 10 calories, with 5 grams of carbs, 0 grams of fat, 0 grams of protein, and 200 mg of sodium.

Vitamin B complex (100% of the daily value for each)

  • Vitamin B3 (Niacin)
  • Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin B7 (Biotin)
  • Vitamin B12

Vitamin B plays a vital role in metabolism, where they help carbs, proteins, and fats convert into energy.

Besides turning food into energy, they’re needed in many places inside our bodies to keep our cells functioning properly.

Some examples are:

The vitamins can expand the blood vessels, which increases blood flow, and allows for a better pump while working out.

They’re also used to create neurotransmitters: dopamine, serotonin, and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). This is explained further down with L-Theanine.

They’re added to energy drinks because they can increase energy, help the metabolism, reduce fatigue, improve mood, promote healthy skin, etc.

Energy Blend 1.4 grams

  • 200 mg of caffeine
  • L-Theanine
  • Taurine
  • Panax Ginseng Root Extract
  • L-Carnitine Tartrate
  • Glucuronolactone
  • Inositol
  • Guarana Seed Extract

This blend of ingredients improves workout performance, increases energy, boosts metabolism, enhances cognitive abilities, and promotes better overall health.

The ingredients are in other energy drinks, such as Monster Zero Energy.

However, one ingredient that sets Alani Nu apart from (many famous) competitors is L-Theanine.

L-Theanine is an amino acid mainly found in black tea, green tea, and a few variants of mushrooms.

It’s not essential for the human body, and we don’t produce it ourselves.

L-Theanine affects the neurotransmitters in our brains by increasing the production of our happy hormones (Serotonin and Dopamine) and GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid).

These regulate stress, mood, alertness, concentration, emotion, sleep, perception of fear, etc.

L-Theanine can be especially significant in combination with caffeine to boost mental focus, give a smooth increase in energy (without a crash), and reduce fear, anxiety, and stress.

It works so well that my girlfriend, mom, dad, and grandmom have also started taking L-Theanine daily (they’re very skeptical of my supplements).

Is Alani Nu Energy Drink Worth It?

I can understand why the Alani Nu Energy Drink has increased in popularity.

The ingredients go above and beyond most competitors by adding L-Theanine to the mix.

This non-essential amino acid has excellent synergy with caffeine and has benefits beyond energy (without a crash).

It boosts mood, reduces stress/ anxiety, and has the potential to make your day better.

I’ve been supplementing L-Theanine for a while, and my girlfriend, mom, dad, and grandmom are also hooked on it.

Besides ingredients, the flavors are literally out of this world (Cosmic Stardust, let’s go).

It makes me happy, sparks creativity, and gives me an incredible feeling.

The drink is slightly carbonated, which is perfect, in my opinion. With so many options, there’s a favorite taste for nearly everybody.

If you’re not sensitive to caffeine or are pregnant/ nursing, I recommend giving Alani Nu energy drinks a try.
