I’ve always liked Rich Piana for his character, transparency, and brutal honesty.

When he passed away on the 25th of August in 2017 it was a sad day.

A fitness icon was lost. But his legacy continues to live on.

One way is through his supplements from the brand 5% nutrition.

Today I’ll be reviewing the 5150 pre-workout.

Fun fact 5150 is police code for “Psycho on the Lose”.

Let’s see if this pre-workout lives true to its name, and unleashes your inner psycho in the gym.

Weight: A tub of 5150 pre-workout has a total weight of 399 grams or 14.07 ounces.

Ingredients in 5150 Pre-Workout

Vitamin B3 (as Niacin) | 30mg NE

Vitamin B3 or Niacin helps to expand our blood vessels, which increases blood flow in our body.

The extra blood flow can provide you with a better pump during your workouts.

Niacin also plays a role in converting food into energy, which may help with weight loss.

30mg is dosed correctly.

Vitamin B-12 | 1,000mcg

Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that keeps your blood and nerve cells healthy and helps to create DNA.

It’s found in pre-workouts, because it may reduce fatigue.

Vitamin B-12 plays a role in metabolism, where it helps carbs, proteins, and fats convert into energy.

1,000mcg is a very high dose.

L-Citrulline | 4,000mg

L-Citrulline increases the release of nitric oxide.

This helps widen the blood vessels, which allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

It also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you to feel more focused, energetic, and sharper during training.

4,000 is dosed correctly.

Beta-Alanine | 3,000mg

Beta-alanine helps with muscle fatigue, which practically means you can do more reps and sets while working out.

Over time this will result in more muscle growth.

It’s also the cause of that itchy or tingling feeling all over your body.

3,000mg is slightly underdosed. You would need 4,000-6,000mg per day for maximum benefits.

L-Taurine | 2,000mg

Taurine reduces muscular fatigue.

This means you can train at a high intensity for longer.

It has benefits for endurance, strength, and general power.

2,000mg is dosed correctly.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (NALT) | 750mg

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, or NALT, is a better-absorbed form of regular L-Tyrosine.

It’s a non-essential amino acid that can increase happiness, manage stress, improve memory, and helps the body build proteins.

It also helps in the production of thyroid hormones, melatonin (skin and hair pigment), and enzymes.

It helps in the production of neurotransmitters, like epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

In simple words, this influences mood and helps nerve cells communicate.

Both of which are great for working out.

750mg is dosed correctly.

Choline Bitartrate | 500mg

Choline or Choline Bitartrate is essential for the optimal functioning of every cell in the body.

It can boost muscle recovery, improve muscle performance during exercise and improve stamina.

It’s also used as a nootropic to increase focus during training.

500mg is dosed correctly.

Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline 50% (Alpha GPC) | 200mg

Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline, or Alpha GPC, is mainly used in pre-workouts for increasing mental focus and alertness.

However, it also supports the production of natural human growth hormone and has a role in fat oxidation.

It may boost physical performance and muscle force production.

200mg is dosed correctly (could be higher).

Cocoa Alkaloid Extract (Theobroma) | 80mg

Theobroma is an extract from cacao plants.

It contains Theobromine, which is a purine alkaloid.

In simple words, Theobromine can expand your blood vessels, which improves blood circulation and helps to transport more nutrients in your muscles.

It may improve cardiovascular and cognitive performance.

Together with polyphenols and caffeine, it can have a thermogenic effect, which increases energy expenditure.

This could potentially help in weight loss.

80mg is kind of underdosed.

Bitter Orange Extract | 45mg

Bitter orange extract taken pre-workout may improve fat oxidation, which can speed up weight loss.

It may also boost exercise performance.

Toothed Clubmoss (Huperzia serrata) | 50mcg

Huperzia-A works as an acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor, which increases the levels of Acetylcholine in the body.

This increase will improve neurotransmission and both muscular and cognitive performance.

Understandable answer: In the short term, it can result in better workouts by increasing focus, concentration, and cognitive abilities.

50mcg is on the low-end of dosed correctly.

Stim-Crazy Caffeine Complex | 513mg

5150 pre-workout contains 400mg of caffeine.

It has a lot of stimulants blended into the stim-crazy complex.

Dicaffeine Malate helps the caffeine kick in faster.

Some ingredients help to balance the effects of caffeine and make sure you don’t experience a “crash” mid- or post-workout.

Flavors of 5150 Pre-Workout

5150 pre-workout comes in six different cool-sounding flavors:

  • Blue Ice
  • Green Apple
  • Pink Lemonade
  • Rocket Pop
  • Tropical Rage
  • Wildberry

I don’t dislike any of the tastes, but for some reason, I like to taste the arctic when sipping on pre-workouts.

So my preference goes out to the Blue Ice flavor.

Out of the six flavors, there will be one for nearly anybody.

Price of 5150 Pre-Workout

5150 pre-workout is priced at 46,99 dollars.

This makes the price per scoop $1.57. It’s not a cheap pre-workout supplement.

However, you get a high-stim pre-workout, with many dosed correctly working ingredients.

The big 13,3 gram scoops are not simply filled with cheap ingredients that don’t work.

In my opinion, you get value for your money.

This is why I’ve been regularly using the pre-workout for years now.

Due to its extremely high stim, I typically don’t use a full scoop (even though I’m a stim junky in pre-workouts).

This makes 5150 more cost-efficient for me than pre-workouts I need to double scoop.

Is 5150 Pre-Workout Worth It?

One time I took too much 5150 pre-workout, combined with Full as Fuck pre-workout, and I started seeing sound.

Many PRs were broken that day.

Even though you get a huge energy boost, the beautiful thing that separates 5150 from competitors is that you don’t experience a “crash”.

For me, this pre-workout is among the very best if you love a lot of stimulants.

So far, the cops have never chased me when I’ve taken it, but 5150 is a good name indeed.

Your inner psycho will love it.

5150 pre-workout has a lot of dosed correctly ingredients that give an extreme energy boost, increased alertness, focus, and somewhat an increase in pump/vascularity.

For maximum pump/vascularity you can stack it with Full as Fuck (stim-free) pre-workout.
