For some reason, I enjoy busting my ass in the gym daily. Often this means lifting weights for hours on end and topping it off with a hard cardio session.

I have a hard time taking rest days, so I’m always trying to improve my recovery.

Of course, the most important ways are optimizing sleep, a healthy diet, etc.

However, I also love researching and testing new supplements with this goal in mind.

My search led me to a BCAA supplement that might be perfect for my goals and taste good.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing the XTEND BCAA powder.

Grab your favorite popcorn machine, pop some kernels, and find out if XTEND BCAA powder is next on your supplement list.

Ingredients in XTEND BCAA powder

The XTEND BCAA powder contains zero calories, so it does not contain any unnecessary sugars or fillers.

XTEND is also completely transparent about the ingredients and quantities.

This is good because supplement companies often hide bad/ underdosed ingredients in “proprietary blends.”

640 mcg of Vitamin B6 (32% of daily value)

The B vitamins play an essential role in metabolism, where they help carbs, proteins, and fats convert into energy.

Besides energy creation, they’re needed in various places inside our bodies to keep our cells functioning properly.

The benefits include increased energy, helping the metabolism, reducing fatigue, improving mood, promoting healthy skin, etc.

7,000 mg of BCAA (2:1:1 ratio) - L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine

There are 20 different kinds of amino acids, of which nine are essential. Your body can’t produce these, so you NEED to get them from food.

Three (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) are called BCAA’s, or branched-chain amino acids.

They have a unique chemical structure, which makes them more likely to go into the skeletal muscle of our bodies.

L-Leucine is vital for our muscle-building pursuit because of its essential role in protein synthesis.

Science found that consuming BCAAs after training can improve strength/ muscle gains and recovery.

This is why BCAA powder has become such a popular supplement over the years.

The 2:1:1 means a 2 L-Leucine ratio for every 1 L-Isoleucine and L-Valine. Science suggests this is best for recovery purposes.

2,500 mg of L-Glutamine

L-Glutamine is an amino acid your body needs because it makes up about 60 percent of our skeletal muscle.

It’s an essential building block for creating proteins in our bodies. It has become a trendy supplement for its potential to build muscle and lose fat.

Science has found that the benefits go way beyond fitness goals thought.

L-Glutamine can improve athletic performance and recovery, support heart/ brain/ gut/ immune health, etc.

1,140 mg of Electrolyte Blend

  • Sodium Citrate
  • Potassium Chloride
  • Sodium Chloride

Sodium and Potassium are both minerals that are essential for nerve function and muscle contractions.

Sufficient amounts are needed for proper water and mineral balance in the body.

Taking it before or during a workout may help you to work out longer by increasing blood volume and improving blood flow.

Low levels may be a cause of nasty muscle cramps.

1,000 mg of Citrulline Malate (1:1)

L-Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that the body turns into another amino acid called L-arginine.

L-Citrulline increases the release of nitric oxide, which helps widen the blood vessels.

This allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.

It also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you to feel more focused, energetic, and sharper during training.

Experiences with XTEND BCAA powder

The experiences with XTEND BCAA powder are excellent. Many people have taken XTEND BCAA powder for years and swear by it.

The minority of people that don't like it mostly complain about the taste not being for them.

Price of XTEND BCAA powder

XTEND BCAA powder is priced at 19,11 dollars for 30 servings and 49.34 dollars for 90 servings on Amazon. This makes the price per scoop around $0,64 or $0,55.

I think this is reasonably priced for the 7-gram BCAA content and additional ingredients you’re getting, especially if you go for the 90-serving option.

Is XTEND BCAA powder Worth It?

I think XTEND BCAA powder can be beneficial for your workout efforts mainly in (but not limited to) the following occasions:

  • If you’re on a (very) low-calorie diet.
  • If you’re working out in a fasted state in the morning.
  • If you’re training intensely for a long time (and need extra hydration).
  • If you’re currently not eating a high-protein diet.
  • If you’re not able to eat in a reasonable time after your workout.
  • If you like a unique flavored drink during your workout.
  • If you have a mindset like “if it doesn’t work, it will not harm me anyways.”

BCAAs are unnecessary for everybody because they can be widely found in food (eggs, chicken, etc.). However, they have their time and place on some occasions.

As far as BCAA supplements go, the XTEND BCAA powder is, in my opinion, as good as it gets.

It contains 7 grams of BCAAs in the scientifically ideal amount (2:1:1) and has additional L-Glutamine and Vitamin B6 to fuel your workouts.

During your workouts, it’s a good source of minerals to stay hydrated and keep your muscles/ nerves functioning correctly.

XTEND is transparent in ingredients and quantities and doesn’t contain calories, sugars, or unnecessary fillers. This is ideal.

If you’re looking for a BCAA supplement with unique tastes and ingredients that back up the claims, I recommend giving XTEND BCAA powder a try.

You can find it on Amazon here.
